We partnered with Downy to create this blog post.
Let us guess – you’ve just finished your most recent exciting Meriwool project and you don’t know how to maintain it’s perfectly wooly conditions, right?
We have the perfect solution for you, don’t worry!
Our Meriwool can be machine washed, but always with extreme care. Using the right program on your washing machine and appropriate detergents will help your garment last longer.
- Step 1: Use the delicate or handwash program on your washing machine, and use cool water! After all, it’s still wool.
- Step 2: Make sure to wash your Meriwool ítem separately from other ítems.
- Step 3: This is where we have an ace under our sleeve! In addition to using a mild detergent, add a fabric conditioner like Downy to the rinse cycle to help ensure your Meriwool garments look new for longer. Why use a fabric conditioner? Well, we use conditioner after we shampoo, right? The same should go for our wooly items… Downy Fabric Conditioner helps prevent the fading, pilling and stretching of your beloved knits. Conditioning your knits also helps smooth each fiber to decrease friction during the washing process.
- Step 4: Once washed, forget about tumble dry as it will damage the fiber (and we don’t want that!). Instead, lay your garment flat to dry to keep its shape.
By following these simple steps, you’ll prolong the life of your wooly garments and be able to enjoy your knitted projects much longer (and we promise – the hard work definitely pays off!).
