Hello knitters!
We are going to knit a little Xmas tree!
You can add little bobbles to your little tree and also hang it on your big tree at home. 🙂
Please take into account that the tree is going to be very small so you need to cast on the stitches very close one to each other. Also, use small needles! For this decoration we have used 5mm beechwood needles and a 100% Peruvian petite wool yarn in moss green.
You need to knit your little tree in Garter Stitch, making also some increases and knitting 2 stitches together at the end of each row.
1. Cast on 17 stitches onto one of your WAK wooden needles.
2. Knit rows 1-6 as follows: knit 1 stitch, knit 2 stitches together, and knit the rest of the stitches until you have 3 left. Now continue knitting 2 stitches together and knit the last stitch.
3. Row 7: increase 4 stitches on each side and continue knitting until row 12. Follow the steps on number 2.
4. Row 13: increase 3 stitches on each side and continue knitting row 13 to 15 as on step number 2.
5. Row 16: knit 1 stitch, slip 1 stitch, knit 2 stitches together, cast on the slipped stitch over both knitted stitches and cast the last one.
6. Row 17: knit the 3 stitches together.
7. Cut the thread approx 15 cm form the end of your tree and hide the thread between the already knitted stitches. Use your little sewing needle to do it.
Now you have the main shape of the tree. Take your little sewing needle and start making the bobbles. You have also a WAK post to learn how to knit bobbles.
You can find different wool yarn balls on our website and start knitting your own Xmas decoration. It’s going to be so fun! Show us your Xmas projects on Instagram and do not forget the hashtag #weareknitters. 🙂
