With the (late) arrival of nice weather, sunglasses are becoming a daily essential. Leaving without them can ruin your plans of an afternoon sitting at an outdoor café.
If you’re one of those people who spend hours digging through your bag to find your sunglasses, or those that check all your pockets before realizing that they’re on your head, then this post is for you.
We’re going to learn how to make the coolest crochet sunglass cord, so you never forget where they are and are always look stylish. Not only are glasses in style, but now the cords to hold them are too.
We recommend making this one with pima cotton yarn because it’s very durable and will survive through many of your daily adventures.
You don’t have to know how to crochet like a Jedi, you just need to have patience and go for it. 😉
Ready? Here’s how it’s done:
1. Chain 3.
2. Insert the hook into the second stitch and leave it on the hook.
3. Insert the hook into the third stitch and leave it on the hook. We should have 3 loops on the crochet hook.
4. Now comes the tricky part that you’ll have to get the hang of, but you’ll see that with practice it will become easier. Remove the crochet hook from 2 loops being careful not to pull them out. We’ll have one loop left on the hook. Yarn over and draw the yarn through the stitch on the hook.
5. Put the second stitch that we removed, back on the hook, yarn over and draw the yarn through that second stitch.
6. Put the third stitch that we removed back on the hook, yarn over and draw the yarn through it. You’ll see that we now have 3 loops on our crochet hook.
7. We are going to repeat steps 4, 5, and 6 until our cord is the length that we want.
8. Once we have the desired length we just have to place some eyeglass cord ends onto each end of the cord.
And there we have our eyeglass cord ready to wear!
Modern, fun, and very practical. Isn’t it?
