On this post we are going to teach you how to knit the slip stitch.
It is a very useful and easy technique for your garments ad accessorizes.
We recommend this type of stitch for big projects like blankets or a scarf due that the slip stitch gives a nice shape.
The slip stitch is popular for the threads over the rows of knitted stitches. That is the origin of the name.
Let’s start with the slip stitch!
Cast on a number of stitches multiple of 6 + 5 stitches.
Row 1: Purl 2 stitches, knit 1 stitch. Repeat this step until you have 2 stitches left and purl them.
Row 2: Knit 2 stitches, purl 1 stitch. Repeat this step until you have 2 stitches left and knit them.
Row 3: Knit 1 stitch, *Slip 3 stitches without knitting them onto your right needle with the yarn in front. Purl 1 stitch, knit 1 stitch, and purl 1 stitch more. *Repeat this scheme (*) until you have 4 stitches left. Slip 3 stitches onto your right needle with the yarn in front and purl 1 stitch.
Row 4: Knit 1 stitch, slip 3 stitches onto your right needle with the yarn behind and *knit 1 stitch, purl 1 stitch, knit 1 stitch and slip 3 stitches onto your right needle with the yarn behind. *Repeat this scheme until the last stitch and knit it.
Row 5: Purl 2 stitches and knit 1 stitch. Repeat this step until you have 2 stitches left and purl both.
Row 6: Knit 2 stitches, purl 1 stitch. Repeat this step until you have 2 stitches left and knit them.
Row 7: Purl 1 stitch, *purl 1 stitch, knit 1 stitch, purl 1 stitch and slip 3 stitches onto your right needle with the yarn in front. *Repeat this scheme until you have 4 stitches left; purl 1 stitch, knit 1 stitch and purl the last 2 stitches.
Row 8: Knit 2 stitches, purl 1 stitch and knit 1 stitch. *Slip 3 stitches without knitting them onto your right needle with the yarn behind, knit 1 stitch, purl 1 stitch and knit 1 stitch. *Repeat this scheme untilts the last stitch of the row and knit the stitch.
Repeat these 8 rows as long as you need to finish your WAK garment.
